
Mezzo-Soprano Carla López-Speziale to Headline Recital at Cabrini Shrine in NYC
By David SalazarPianist Kevin Anthony Smith and mezzo-soprano Carla López-Speziale will headline “Alma Mía: Spain and Latin America in Music,” a recital at the Saint Frances Cabrini Shrine in New York City on Oct. 26, 2025.
The showcase, set to start at 5:30 p.m. local time, will present music inspired by Spain alongside tangos and boleros, as well as a special piece honoring the Day of the Dead. The recital highlights the influence of Spain on composers worldwide, with works by French composers Jules Massenet, Pauline Viardot, and Georges Bizet performed alongside Latin American repertoire by Pablo Ziegler, Ariel Ramírez, María Grever, and Consuelo Velázquez.
López-Speziale is a prizewinner of the Vincenzo Bellini Competition, the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and the Carlo Morelli Competition, and has performed with such companies as the Palacio de Bellas Artes, Hangzhou Theater, and the Ellen Eccles Theater, among others.
Smith is a resident Music Director in New York City who performs widely as a pianist and organist while also teaching and directing music for youth and community theater programs.
