The U.S. Open has announced that Will Liverman, the Metropolitan Opera Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin and members of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra will perform at the Men’s final on Sept. 10, 2023.

They will perform “America the Beautiful/Lift Every Voice and Sing” on Arthur Ashe Stadium court prior to the 2023 US Open men’s singles championship and it will mark the first time Liverman and the Metropolitan Opera will perform at the US Open.

The arrangement of “America the Beautiful” and “Lift Every Voice” is for voice, piano, and brass by John Sheppard and Tetsuro Hoshii.

In a statement, USTA Chairman of the Board and President Brian Hainline said, “To have the Metropolitan Opera, one of the country’s largest and leading cultural institutions, center stage on tennis’s grandest stage is momentous for the USTA. Just as this match showcases the greatest tennis athletes, Will, Yannick and the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra represent the very best of opera and classical music.”

The performance will air live on ESPN as part of the network’s presentation of the conclusion of the US Open.
