Metropolitan Opera Orchestra Announces New Principal Horn Player

The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra has named a new Principal Horn player.

The orchestra announced via social media that Brad Gemeinhardt will become the new Principal in the orchestra section.

The orchestra said, “After a grueling round of semis and finals today, Brad was awarded the position of principal horn… after playing two rounds of excerpts, a solo, and finally concluding with Wagner’s ‘Long Call.’ Bravo to all who played in the three-day audition process!”

Gemeinhardt was the third Horn of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and has performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic as well as the San Francisco Symphony, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, American Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, many Broadway shows, television and radio jingles, commercial recordings, and motion picture soundtracks.
