Metropolitan Opera Live in HD 2018-19 Preview: Javier Camarena & Pretty Yende Star in ‘La Fille du Régiment’

The Met Opera’s Live in HD series continues this Saturday, March 2, 2019 with a performance of Donizetti’s comic gem “La Fille du Régiment.”

The broadcast, which kicks off 12:55 p.m. Eastern time, will feature Pretty Yende as the titular heroine Marie. Starring as Tonio and tasked with singing nine high C’s will be tenor Javier Camarena. Other cast members will include Stephanie Blythe, Alessandro Corbelli, Kathleen Turner, and Maurizio Muraro. Enrique Mazzola conducts the production.

This is Yende’s second Live in HD performance following her showcase last season in “L’Elisir d’Amore.” For Camarena this will also be the second HD performance of his Met career; last season he starred in “Semiramide.”

Meanwhile Blythe is going to be taking on HD performance number nine following appearances in “Il Trittico,” “Orfeo ed Euridice,” “Das Rheingold,” “Die Walküre,” “Rodelinda,” “Un Ballo in Maschera,” “Falstaff,” and “Cendrillon.”

This is the latest Live in HD transmission of the season. It will be followed “Die Walküre” on March 30, and “Dialogues des Carmélites” on May 11.
