Metropolitan Opera Announces Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy for Employees

By Francisco Salazar

The Metropolitan Opera has announced a mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy for its employees.

In an email sent to its employees and obtained by OperaWire, the Met noted that in order to ensure the health and safety of its employees, their families, and members of its community the Met will require that all employees receive a COVID-19 vaccine and be fully-vaccinated by August 1, 2021.

Employees who are already working at the Met, or who are scheduled to return earlier than August 1, must be vaccinated as soon as possible.

The Met also noted that employees who are not in compliance with the policy may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment, in accordance with the Met’s policy.

The company did note that there were some exemptions in case a member qualifies for disability or sincerely held religious belief. If that is the case, the employee should contact the Human Resources Department to request an accommodation by July 1, 2021 or within thirty (30) days from the initial date of hire.
