The Metropolitan Opera has announced a cast change for its production of “Grounded.”

The company said that Ellie Dehn will sing the role of Also Jess instead of Kirsten MacKinnon, who was originally announced.

Dehn took to social media and said, “It’s turned into a “Just say YES!” beginning of the year. I’m joining the cast of the incredible opera, ‘GROUNDED,’ in the role of “Also Jess” for the opening of the Metropolitan Opera’s season. My brain has been working in overdrive but I think the words and notes are there. Our piano dress is already on Friday! One last twist: My hair is getting chopped into a military cut in the morning. It’ll grow back, right? Just say yes… Just say yes. (And before anyone asks, I am giving my full and enthusiastic consent for this hair cut.)”

Dehn made her Met debut in 2008 as Mrs. Naidoo in “Satyagraha” and has since performed in productions of “Don Giovanni” and “La Bohème.” This season at the Met she will cover the title role in “Salome,” Antonia and Stella in “The Tales of Hoffmann” and Musetta in “La Bohème.”

Dehn joins a cast that includes Emily D’Angelo, Ben Bliss, and Kyle Miller. Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Steven Osgood conduct the opera which will be performed from Sept. 23 to Oct. 19, 2024.
