Metropolitan Opera Announces Cast Change for ‘Eugene Onegin’

The Metropolitan Opera has announced a cast change for its performance of Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin.”

The company noted, that in tonight’s performance Marjukka Tepponen makes her Met debut in the role of Tatiana replacing Ailyn Perez.

The Finnish soprano made her operatic debut as Violetta Valery in “La Traviata” at the Jyväskylä Opera in 2009. She has since performed at the Finnish National Opera, Oper Graz, Savonlinna, Rijeka International Opera, Bregenz Opera Festival, Seattle Opera, and Tampere Opera. Her repertoire includes the music of Puccini, Bizet, Mozart, and Gounod, among others.

The soprano joins a cast that includes Igor Golovatenko in the title role, Piotr Beczała as Lenski, and Varduhi Abrahamyan. James Gaffigan conducts.

Perez returns to the production on April 10 and 14, 2022.
