Stephanie Blythe to Revive Blythely Oratonia in Philadelphia Cabaret

By David Salazar

Mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe will perform as her tenor alter-ego Blythely Oratonio in Philadelphia this December.

“Blythely Oratonio: I Am My Own Daddy,” which will take place at the Bearded Ladies Cabaret’s Hairport, will also feature Sapphira Cristál, the runner-up and Miss Congeniality of Season 16 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” who is also a classically trained opera singer and composer.

Blythe created Blythely with Bearded Ladies co-founder Rose Jarboe after encountering Dito van Reigersberg and his Martha Graham Cracker persona in Philadelphia. The Hairport, which houses costumes, props, videos, music and ephemera from the company’s history, is dedicated to Martha. Van Reigersberg died in June 2026 at age 53.

“Blythely Oratonio is one of those characters who could only have been born in Philadelphia,” said Blythe, per an official press release. “He was born out of friendship, mischief, opera, drag, and the absolute joy of performing with Martha. Coming back to Philadelphia as Blythely now, in the Hairport, feels like coming home, and like opening the door for Martha to join us again.”

The showcase kicks off at 8 p.m. local time.
