Mesopotamian Opera Company to Present ‘The Tree’

The Mesopotamian Opera Company, Inc., is set to present a production “The Tree” this May.

The opera, which features words and music by Peter Wing Healey, is inspired by the works of journalist Jane Jacobs. This opera unites addressed such themes as New Urbanism and Extinction Rebellion.

The plot follows the spirit of a hundred-year-old oak tree, who falls in love with a young man from the town. They marry but years later, the old tree faces extinction when a local developer (who happens to be her husband’s ex) decides to build a shopping center  in a space where the tree lives.

Performances are set for May 25- 28, 2022 at The Highland Park Ebell Club in Los Angeles, CA.

“The Tree” will star baritone Aaron Ball, bass-baritone Andi Dana, baritone Ben Finer, soprano Camila Lima, baritone Eric Castro, tenor Marco Antonio Lozano, soprano Mariana Ramírez, soprano Natalia Ferreiro, mezzo-soprano Victoria Fox, and Lent as music director.
