Members of L’Orchestre de la Suisse Romande have been hit by a COVID-19 outbreak during rehearsals of “Parsifal” at the Grand Théâtre de Genève.

Per reports, several musicians and conductor Jonathan Gott were all hit by the virus.

In a press release, the Foundation of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande voted unanimously to cancel all musical activity until June 30.

“Only activities that do not present any risk to the personnel seall continue,” stated the announcement.

The Grand Théâtre de Genève has also stated that four members of the chorus and an administrative worker also tested positive for the virus, though those cases are isolated from those of the orchestra because there was no contact between them.

The production of “Parsifal” was slated to stream on April 2, but was canceled due to the outbreak. Per the two organizations, rehearsals were being held with strict sanitary guidelines.

The Grand Théâtre de Genève will continue with its rehearsals for the upcoming “Dido and Aeneas” and its upcoming Stravinsky ballets; the company made sure to emphasize that strict regulations would be upheld during these rehearsals. The company is currently evaluating whether to move forward with its upcoming production of “La Traviata.”
