Matthew Polenzani, Tomasz Konieczny, Elizabeth Caballero Lead Staatsoper Stuttgart Revised 2020-21 Season

The Staatsoper Stuttgart has announced its redesigned 2020-21 season, running from Feb. 21, 2021, until July 21, 2021.
Here is the full slate.
Operas
Maurice Ravel’s “Verzauberte Welt” will feature Schorsch Kamerun, Diana Haller, Alexandra Urquiola, Maria Theresa Ullrich, Carina Schmieger, Claudia Muschio, Linsey Coppens, Jasper Leever, Elliott Carlton Hines, and Charles Sy. Dennis Russell Davies and Christopher Schumann will conduct the production by Schorsch Kamerun.
Performance Dates: February 2021
Mozart and Schikaneder’s “Die Zauberflote” will showcase David Steffens, Michael Nagl, Mingjie Lei, Kai Kluge, Beate Ritter, Josefin Feiler, Carina Schmieger, Catriona Smith, Clare Tunney, Maria Theresa Ullrich, Linsey Coppens, Stine Marie Fischer, Alexandra Urquiola, Johannes Kammler, Elliott Carlton Hines, Laia Vallés, Heinz Göhrig, Torsten Hofmann, Moritz Kallenberg, and Jasper Leever.
Karsten Januschke will conduct the production by Barrie Kosky and Suzanne Andrade.

A concert performance of Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” will showcase Elizabeth Caballero as Cio-Cio-San, Pavel Valuzhin as Pinkerton, Helene Schneiderman, Jarrett Ott, Torsten Hofmann, and David Steffens. The conductor will be announced at a later date.

A concert performance of Verdi’s “Falstaff” will spotlight Lucio Gallo in the title role, alongside Johannes Kammler, Mingjie Lei, Heinz Göhrig, Torsten Hofmann, Selene Zanetti, Claudia Muschio, Marianna Pizzolato, and Ida Ränzlöv. Cornelius Meister will conduct.

A concert performance of Richard Strauss’ “Ariadne auf Naxos” will showcase Simone Schneider in the title role, David Butt Philip as Bacchus, Beate Ritter as Zerbinetta, Carina Schmieger, Ida Ränzlöv, Josefin Feiler, Paweł Konik, Heinz Göhrig, David Steffens, Torsten Hofmann, Martin Gantner, Harald Schmidt, and Diana Haller. Cornelius Meister conducts.

A concert performance of Wagner’s “Der Fliegende Holländer” will star Tomasz Konieczny in the title role, Goran Jurić, Simone Schneider, Matthias Klink, Stine Marie Fischer, and Elmar Gilbertsson. Cornelius Meister conducts.

The double-bill “Jesus Christ Superstar” by Andre Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice, and “Miserere” by Arvo Pärt will feature Matthias Klink, Katherine Manley, and Denis Milo. André de Ridder conducts the production by Marco Štorman.

Massenet’s “Werther” will showcase Matthew Polenzani in the title role, Paweł Konik, Shigeo Ishino, Rachael Wilson, and Aoife Gibney. Felix Rothenhäusler is the director.

Bach’s Oratorio “St. John Passion” will spotlight Beate Ritter, Alexandra Urquiola, Kai Kluge, Björn Bürger, Michael Nagl, Fanie Antonelou, Linsey Coppens, and Christopher Sokolowski. Cornelius Meister conducts the production by Ulrich Rasche.

Vivaldi’s Oratorio “Juditha Triumphans” will star Rachael Wilson, Stine Marie Fischer, Catriona Smith, Gaia Petreone, and Alexandra Urquiola. Stefano Montanari conducts the production by Silvia Costa.

Concerts
The concert “Das Dschungelbuch” will feature David Steffens and Maria Theresa Ullrich. Alexander Erbrich will play the bass. The event will also feature musicians of des Staatsorchester Stuttgart.
