MATA Presents ‘Music by Azalea Twining and Anna Heflin’

By Afton Markay

“Music by Azalea Twining and Anna Heflin” is presented by Music at the Anthology (MATA) on May 20.

First up, Shannon Reilly will perform Anna Heflin’s one-act opera for singing violinist, “The Wonderland Series.” The instrumental solo opera is accompanied by pre-recorded audio and video, all of which features the soloist portraying the various characters.

The double bill is completed with the world premiere of Azalea Twining’s song cycle, “Enough Rope.” The song cycle is set to poems from Dorothy Parker’s collection of the same name. The composer sings and is joined at the piano by Sebastian Grinberg-Bly.

The concert takes place as part of the Carnegie Hill Concerts. The Church of Advent Hope in New York hosts. The concert begins 7:30 pm.
