By David Salazar

MasterVoices is set to present “O How Good” on March 23, 2023.

The showcase will feature Bloch’s “Sacred Service (Avodath Hakodesh),” Weill’s “Kiddush,” and the world premiere of Daniel Rein’s “And the Sun Goes Up.”

Conductor Ted Sperling will lead the performance, which will be headlined by baritone Justin Austin, tenor Daniel Mutlu, organist David Strickland, and pianist Daniel Rein.

Austin is set to star in Joplin’s “Treemonisha” later this year at the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis. He recently performed as Ned Keene at the Metropolitan Opera’s revival of “Peter Grimes” as well as Lake Area Music Festival’s “Ariadne auf Naxos.”

Mutlu is the senior cantor of Central Synagogue and has performed with Houston Symphony, Houston Grand Opera, Ars Lyrica, Houston Bach Society, Alarm Will Sound, and Park East Synagogue Choir.
