MassOpera to Stream ‘Freedom Ride’ Workshop Concert Performance

MassOpera has announced a special broadcast of its 2019 New Opera Workshop Concert Performance of “Freedom Ride.”

Scheduled for Oct. 21, 2020, the broadcast will also be preceded by a live panel with many of the creative team and cast members of the production. Among those in attendance will be composer and librettist Dan Shore, Chicago Opera Theatre Music Director Lidiya Yankovskaya, soprano Alicia Russell, and baritone Ron Williams. The panel will be moderated by Michael J. Bobbit, the Artistic Director of New Repertory Theatre.

“Freedom Ride” is set in the 1960s and tells the story of one young black woman’s decision to join the civil rights movement.
