Mary Wilson, Jay Carter, Gene Stenger, Elijah Blaisdell Headline 2022 St. Louis Bach Festival

The Bach Society of Saint Louis has unveiled the 2022 St. Louis Bach Festival.

For the purposes of this article, our focus will be solely on vocal and operatic showcases.

First up will be the Young Artist Showcase, which will feature a wide range of operatic and oratorio repertory. The performance will be presented at the Chapel of the Cross Lutheran Church.

Performance Date: April 23, 2022

Next up is “Community Spring Sing: Messiah,” a program aimed at allowing audience members a chance to join in with the Bach Society Chorus for a performance of Händel’s famed masterpiece.

“All of us were rendered silent for nearly two years. …we simply want to invite you to sing alongside us in the spirit of community, to foster unity among local singers and music lovers,” said Bach Society Assistant Conductor, Stephen Eros, in an official press statement.

Performance Date: May 7, 2022

The festival draws to a close with a performance of Bach’s “Mass in B Minor.” A. Dennis Sparger conducts a performance starring Mary Wilson, Jay Carter, Gene Stenger, and Elijah Blaisdell.

Performance Date: May 15, 2022

There will also be “Find Your Voice,” an educational program that examines Bach’s influence on different voice types and skill levels across a wide range of musical genres. Audiences can check out the series starting on April 25, 2022.
