Mark Padmore Announces Farewell to Recital Hall

By Francisco Salazar

Wigmore Hall in the U.K has announced that Mark Padmore has decided to retire from the recital hall.

The hall noted that “the English tenor has decided to say farewell to the recital hall where he has spent much of his career in an ever-broadening exploration of song conducted at a profound level.”

The tenor, who is the current Artist in Residence at Wigmore Hall, will perform a series of concerts in which he will celebrate his relationship with some of the greatest collaborative pianists who have partnered him on his fascinating journey. His next concert will be on Sept. 19 in a program of Schubert and Schumann.

This season in Wigmore, Padmore will also perform with Imogen Cooper, Mitsuko Uchida, and Paul Lewis. The tenor is also set to appear in recital in Brussels with Simon Lepper, Madrid with Kristian Bezuidenhout, and in a six-concert US tour with Mitsuko Uchida.
