Marina Rebeka Finishes Production on ‘Zeme, Kas Dzied’

Marina Rebeka has finished shooting her first feature film “Zeme, Kas Dzied.”

The Latvian soprano took to social media to share the news and said, “Just finished filming in my beautiful home country Latvia – I must admit it was pretty hot outside and the process took long hours, but I am very happy with the result and can not wait for the movie premier of ZEME, KAS DZIED.”

Rebeka first announced her participation in the film back in March 2021 when the film was announced with the working title “In the Land that Sings.”

The new film, directed by Māris Martinsons, is a historical drama set in the second half of the 19th century when the first Latvian Song Festival took place.

Initial production took place between March 9 and 20, 2021 in Riga and Ramava. Production also took place in January 2022. The film is being produced by Linda Krūkle for K Films.

“Zeme, Kas Dzied” is set to be released in 2023 and will mark Rebeka’s first feature film. The Latvian soprano is well known for her performances at the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House, Teatro alla Scala, and Wiener Staatsoper among others.
