Radio France has announced its 2021-22 season. For the purpose of this article we will focus only on the vocal works.

Operas

Ravel’s “L’Enfant et les sortilèges” spotlights  Jodie Devos, Clara Guillon, Adèle Charvet, Marie Lenormand, Élodie Méchain, Antoine Normand, Régis Mengus, and Paul Gay. Mikko Franck conducts.

Performance date: Oct. 1, 2021, Philharmonie de Paris

Hersant and Echenoz’s “Les Éclairs” features Jean-Christophe Lanièce, André Heyboer, Elsa Benoit, Marie-Andrée Bouchard-Lesieur, François Rougier, and Jérôme Boutillier. Ariane Matiakh conducts the production by Clément Hervieu Léger.

Performance dates: Nov. 2 – 8, 2021, Opéra Comique

Tchaikovsky‘s “Eugene Onegin” stars Jean Teitgen, Delphine Haidan, Yuri Kissin, Marcel Beekman, Mireille Delunsch, Alisa Kolosova, Vannina Santoni as Tatyana, Jean-François Borras as Lensky, and Jean-Sébastien Bou in the title role. Karina Canellakis conducts the production by Stéphane Braunschweig.

Performance dates: Nov. 10 – 19, 2021, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées 

Leoš Janáček‘s “La Petite Renarde rusée” spotlights Elena Tsallagova, Christopher Purves, Angela Brower, Elizabeth Cragg, Ella Taylor, Kitty Whately, Robert Murray, and William Thomas. Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla conducts.

Performance date: Nov. 24, 2021, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées 

Ermonela Jaho and Ludovic Tézier star in Massenet‘s “Thaïs.” The cast will be rounded out by Pene Pati, Guilhem Worms, Cassandre Berthon, Marielou Jacquard, and Marie Gautrot. Pierre Bleuse conducts.

Händel‘s “Acis and Galatea” spotlights Julie Roset, Mark Milhofer, Edward Grint, Valerio Contaldo, Fabio Trümpy, Ana Vieira Leite, Christopher Lowrey, and Matthieu Heim. Leonardo García Alarcón conducts.

Concerts

Rachel Willis-Sørensen performs Richard Strauss‘ ” Vier Letzte Lieder” and the final scene from opera “Capriccio.” James Gaffigan conducts.
