Marigona Qerkezi, Rame Lahaj, Raffaele Pe & Chiara Isotton Lead Teatro Petruzzelli’s 2025 Season

The Fondazione Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari has announced its 2025 season. Here is a look at the operas and concerts.

Opera

Verdi’s “Il Corasaro” is set to open the season with Rame Lahaj and Zizhao Guo sharing the lead role. They will be joined by Guanqun Yu, Benedetta Torre, Vladimir Stoyanov, Luca Galli, Vanessa Goikoetxea, and Carmen Lopez. Stefano Montanari conducts the production by Lamberto Puggelli.

Performance Dates: Jan. 17-23, 2025

Puccini’s “Manon Lescaut” will star Marigona Qerkezi, Hanying Tso, Ric Furman, Konstantine Kipiani, Biagio Pizzuti, Filippo Ravizza, and Andrea Concetti. Francesco Cilluffo conducts the production by Massimo Gasparon.

Performance Dates: Feb. 28-March 6, 2025

Marco Spotti, Stefanie Iranyi, Rory Musgrave, Christian Senn, Nicole Piccolomini, Francesca Benitez, Moritz Kallenberg, and Caterina Dellaere lead Britten’s “The Rape of Lucretia.” Jordi Bernàcer conducts Yannis Kokkos’ production.

Performance Dates: April 18-27, 2025

“Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny” will star Renée Morloc, Marina Comparato, Giulio Pelligra, Zoltan Nagy, Theresa Kronthaler, Chunxi Hu, Matthias Koziorowski, Vasil Solodky, Tigran Melkonyan, William Hernandez, Niall Anderson, and Saverio Fiore. Henning Brockhaus directs the production while Luka Hauser conducts.

Performance Dates: June 21-29, 2025

Raffaele Pe and Nicholas Tamagna sing the title role of Händel’s “Giulio Cesare” alongside Sandrine Piau, Lilit Davtyan, Giuseppina Bridelli, Loriana Castellano, Sara Mingardo, Valeria Girardello, Filippo Mineccia, and Davide Giangregorio. Stefano Montanari conducts the production by Damiano Michieletto.

Performance Dates: Sept. 19-25, 2025

Verdi’s “Don Carlo” will star Simon Lim, Pavel Cernoch, Giuseppe Gipali, Chiara Isotton, Renata Campanella, Vladimir Stoyanov, Ankhbayar Enkhbold, Marco Spotti, Alexandra Ionis, and Nozomi Kato. Diego Matheuz conducts Joseph Franconi-Lee’s production.

Performance Dates: Oct. 10-16, 2025

Maria Kataeva and Laura Verrecchia lead Bizet’s “Carmen” with Piero Pretti, Vincenzo Costanzo, Alessandro Luongo, Byung-Gil Kim, Tetiana Miyus, and Sara Rossini.

Concerts 

Alexander Sladkovsky conducts a concert of Elgar, Prokofiev, and Tchaikovsky with soloists cellist Gautier Capuçon and mezzo-soprano Ketevan Kemoklidze.
