Maria Callas Biopic Adds Cast Members

The Maria Callas biopic, “Maria” has added new cast members.

Variety is reporting that Alba Rohrwacher, Pierfrancesco Favino, and Kodi Smit-McPhee have been added to the cast in unspecified roles.

Additionally, Italian star Valeria Golino is set to play the legendary opera singer’s older sister Yakinthi – known as Jackie.

The film, which is set to be directed by Pablo Larraín, was already announced to star Angelina Jolie as the famed diva while Haluk Bilginer will star as Aristotle Onassis.

“Maria” is set to tell the tumultuous, beautiful, and tragic story of the life of the world’s greatest opera singer, relived and re-imagined during her final days in 1970s Paris. Steven Knight wrote the screenplay.

“Maria” will be the final film in Larraín’s biopic trilogy which has included “Spencer” starring Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana and 2016’s “Jackie” with Natalie Portman as Kennedy Onassis.

“Maria” is set to be produced by Fabula, The Apartment Pictures, a Fremantle Company, and Komplizen Film.
