The Manhattan School of Music has appointed two former alumni and current Met Opera staff members to join its faculty.

Thomas Lausmann, who is the Met Opera Director of Music Administration, and Bryan Wagorn, Met Opera Assistant conductor, will join the collaborative piano faculty immediately.

They join Myra Huang, the Head of Music of the Met Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Program, whose appointment was announced back in November 2022.

“The Collaborative Piano department supports many other divisions within the School, perhaps most significantly, Vocal Arts,” Manhattan School of Music Executive Vice President and Provost Joyce Griggs said in an official press statement. “Thomas and Bryan, along with Myra, our newest additions to the department, will bring their impressive achievements as performing artists and educators to the task of preparing their students for the professional world, encouraging enthusiastic engagement with a rich diversity of repertoire.”

Prior to his tenure at the Met Opera, Lausmann was head of Music at the Vienna State Opera and collaborated with the Vienna Philharmonic, Bayreuth Festival, and Salzburg Festival.

Meanwhile, Wagorn has worked alongside such renowned artists and ensembles as  Angel Blue, Anthony Roth Costanzo, Lise Davidsen, Eric Owens, Nadine Sierra, Karita Mattila, Joyce DiDonato, the New York Woodwind Quintet, and members of the Met Opera Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Chicago Symphony.
