
Malmö Opera to Live Stream NYC-Set ‘La Bohème’
By David SalazarMalmö Opera will present “La Bohème” in a unique production set in 1960s New York City.
The opera, which opens on March 15, 2025, will run through June 1, 2025, with the May 4 performance set to be live streamed world wide.
The production is directed by Rodula Gaitanou and features Konu Kim and Yana Kleyn as the star-crossed lovers. Other cast members include Richard Hamrin and Kseniia Proshina as Marcello and Musetta as well as Kihwan Sim and Jonah Spungin as Colline and Schaunard. Nils Gustén, Bengt Krantz, Johan Palmqvist, and Eric Roos round out the cast.
Alexander Joel and Sebastian Beckedorf share conducting duties throughout the run.
Puccini’s ever-green opera had its Swedish premiere on Nov. 29, 1901, at The Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm.
