Malmö Opera Unveils 2024-25 Season
By David SalazarMalmö Opera has announced its 2024-25 season.
Verdi’s “Giovanna d’Arco” will be conducted by Daniela Musca and directed by Philipp M. Krenn. The cast will include Ania Jeruc, Magnus Tödenes, Fredrik Zetterström, Gustavo Johansson, and Tor Lind.
Performance Dates: Oct. 12 – Nov. 24, 2024
There will be a run of performances of the children’s opera “Snösystern.”
Performance Dates: Nov. 16, 2024 – Jan. 4, 2025
Matilda Sterby, Annie Fredriksson, David Risberg, Caspar Singh, Elinor Fryklund, and Daniel Giulianini headline “Così fan tutte.” Magnus Fryklund conducts a production directed by Katrine Wiedemann.
Performance Dates: Nov. 30, 2024 – Jan. 25, 2025
Patrik Ringborg conducts Eirik Stubø’s production of “Salome” with Cornelia Beskow in the title role. Other cast members include Lars Cleveman, Karin Lovelius, and Kostas Smoriginas.
Performance Dates: Feb. 8 – March 30, 2025
There will also be a tour of “The Medium.”
Performance Dates: March 1 – May 24, 2025
Closing out the season is “La Bohème” in a production by Rodula Gaitanou. Sebastian Beckedorf and Alexander Joel split conducting duties with a cast starring Sehoon Moon, Yana Kleyn, Richard Hamrin, and Kseniia Proshina.
Performance Dates: March 15 – June 1, 2025
The company will also feature the new opera “Monday is a fish ball day” for children.
Performance Dates: April 5 – May 10, 2025
The company will also present the world premiere of “Joyride the Musical.”
