Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Announces Cast Change for ‘Otello’

The Maggio Musicale has announced a cast change for its production of “Otello.”

The company said that the title role will be performed by Arsen Soghomonyan, who will replace the originally announced Fabio Sartori.

Soghomonyan is a soloist with the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre. Prior to his debut as a tenor was the leading baritone of the Theatre. He appeared in the title role in “Otello” with the Berlin Philharmonic and Canio in Pagliacci at the Teatro di San Carlo.

He is set to join a cast that includes Luca Salsi, Anastasia Bartoli, and Joseph Dahdah. Zubin Mehta conducts the production by Valerio Binasco.

“Otello” will be performed from May 20 through May 31, 2023.
