Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Announces 2023-24 Season

The Maggio Musicale Fiorentino has announced its 2023-24 season.

Opera 

The season opens with Puccini’s “La Bohème” conducted by Giacomo Sagripanti. The cast includes Mariangela Sicilia as Mimì, Gaelano Salas as Rodolfo, Min Kim as Marcello, William Hernandez as Schaunard, Francesco Leone as Colline, Elisa Balbo as Musetta, and Davide Piva as Benoit/Alcindoro.

Performance Dates: Nov. 14-29, 2023

The company will present “La meravigliosa storia del flauto magico” from Mozart’s “The Magic Flute.”

Performance Dates: Dec. 14 & 15, 2023

Donizetti’s “Don Pasquale” will be presented with Daniele Gatti conducting and Jonathan Miller directing.

Performance Dates: Jan. 2024

Puccini’s “La principessa di gelo” inspired by “Turandot” will be shown for kids.

Performance Dates: February 2024

Puccini’s “Turandot” will be presented in Zhang Yimou’s production with Zubin Mehta conducting.

Performance Dates: April-May 2024

“Jeanne Dark” by Fabio Vacchi will be conducted by Alessandro Cadario and directed by Valentino Villa.

Performance Dates: May 2024

Puccini’s “Tosca” will be performed in Massimo Popolizio’s production and conducted by Daniele Gatti.

Performance Dates: May-June 2024

Concerts 

Zubin Mehta leads a Mozart concert with soloists Rosalia Cid, Xenia Tziouvaras, Lorenzo Martelli, and Lodovico Filippo Ravizza.

Performance Date: Sept. 13, 2023

Tito Ceccherini conducts Mathilde Barthélémy in a concert of music by Domenico Stella, Giuseppe Verdi, and Alessandro Solbiati.

Performance Date: Oct. 4, 2023

Lorenzo Fratini conducts Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle.

Performance Date: Dec. 22, 2023

The 2024 season and casting will be announced in a few months.
