The Maggio Musicale Fiorentino has announced a cast change for its production of “Aida.”

The company said, “We inform the public that, due to the sudden unavailability of the artist Agnieszka Rehlis, the mezzo-soprano Daniela Barcellona will sing the role of Amneris for all the plays of ‘Aida.'”

Barcellona has performed at the Metropolitan Opera, the Teatro alla Scala, Royal Opera House, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Bayerische Staatsoper, Teatro Real, Salzburg Festival, and Gran Teatre del Liceu.

The mezzo will join a cast that includes Olga Maslova, SeokJong Baek, Daniel Luis de Vicente, Leon Kim, and Simon Lim. Zubin Mehta conducts the production by Damiano Michieletto.

“Aida” will be presented between June 19 and July 1, 2025.
