
Deutsche Oper Berlin Announces Cast Change for ‘The Queen of Spades’
By Francisco SalazarThe Deutsche Oper Berlin has announced a cast change for its production of “The Queen of Spades.”
The company said that Ivan Gyngazov will take over the role of Hermann from Brian Jagde for all three performances.
Gyngazov has performed at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Mariinsky Theatre, Semperoper Dresden, Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, Theater an der Wien, Teatro Petruzzelli, Opéra National de Paris, Opéra de Rouen Normandie, Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, and the Bolshoi Theatre.
He is set to join a cast that includes Maria Motolygina, Jennifer Larmore, Lucio Gallo, Dean Murphy, and Martina Baroni. Juraj Valčuha conducts the production by Sam Brown.
Jagde is set to return to the stage in July for Verdi’s “Aida” at the Arena di Verona.
