Macerata Opera Festival Announces 2025 Season

The Macerata Opera Festival has announced the operas for the 2025 season.

The 61st Festival will take place between July 18 and August 10 and will showcase three works.

The first open that will be performed is Lehar’s “The Merry Widow” which will be staged for the first time at the festival. The cast will include Alberto Petricca, Cristin Arsenova, Alessandro Scotto di Luzio, Mihaela Marcu, Valerio Borgioni, Cristiano Olivieri, Francesco Pittari, Giacomo Medici, Laura Esposito, Stefano Consolini, Federica Sardella, Davide Pelissero, Elena Serra, and Marco Simeoli. Marco Alibrando conducts the production by Arnaud Bernard.

Performance Dates: July 18-August 9, 2025

The second opera of the festival will be Verdi’s “Rigoletto” in a production by Federico Grazzini. The cast includes Ivan Magrì, Ernesto Petti, Ruth Iniesta, Luca Park, and Carlotta Vichi. Jordi Bernacer conducts.

Performance Dates: July 19-August 8, 2025

Verdi’s “Macbeth” will be the third and final work of the festival in a production by Emma Dante. Roman Burdenko stars in the title role alongside Marko Mimica, Marta Torbidoni, and Antonio Poli. Fabrizio Maria Carminati conducts.

Performance Dates: July 26-August 10, 2025 

The 60th anniversary celebrated Puccini and saw productions of “Turandot” and “La Bohème.” The season also included “Norma.”
