Lyric Opera of Orange County & City of Yorba Linda to Present ‘Enchanted Melodies: An Interactive Fairytale Opera’

By David Salazar

Lyric Opera of Orange County, in partnership with the City of Yorba Linda, presents “Enchanted Melodies: An Interactive Fairytale Opera” on Feb. 21 and 22, 2026, at the Yorba Linda Cultural Arts Center.

The production, created by soprano Emily Gallagher, tells the story of a princess who discovers her own storybook and decides whether she wants to know the ending of her tale. Throughout the showcase, audience members are invited to sing, dance, and play along, helping to bring the narrative to life.

The performance features music drawn from operas and operettas inspired by fairytales, alongside an original libretto by Gallagher. Diego Bustamante appears as narrator and pianist, performing the role of the Prince.

Originally premiered in June 2024 with City Lyric Opera in New York City, “Enchanted Melodies” has since been presented at venues including Pacific Opera Project, Opera Modesto, Azure Family Concerts in Pittsburgh, The Stissing Center in New York, the Ronald McDonald House of Greater Philadelphia, and the Santa Cruz Opera Project.
