By David Salazar

The Lyric Opera of Orange County will present “The Menotti Radio Hour,” a double bill featuring “The Medium” and “The Old Maid and the Thief.”

The production, which opens on Oct. 25 and runs through the 27 for a total of three showcases at the OC Music and Dance, will be directed by Jen Stephenson and features Christopher Walters, Leeza York, Christine Oh, Lauryn Jessup, and Christine Li. J. Bradley Baker conducts.

“As the season revolves around American operas, we thought kicking it off with these great Menotti stories was the perfect choice, especially so close to the Halloween season, said  Diana Farrell, Founding Artistic Director of Lyric Opera of Orange County, per an official press release. “We are thrilled to include an additional dramatic layer with the fantastic percussionist and Foley artist, Milton Salazar , who will be providing the pantomime role of Toby to complete the dramatic Arc.”

“The Medium” first premiered at Columbia University in 1946 while “The Old Maid and the Thief” had its first performances in 1939 on NBC Radio.
