The Lyric Opera of Chicago has announced a cast change for its production of “Jenůfa.”

The company said, “Due to a family emergency that required her immediate return to Norway, soprano Lise Davidsen has had to withdraw from Sunday’s performance of ‘Jenůfa.’ Stepping into the title role will be Ryan Opera Center soprano Kathryn Henry. ”

Meanwhile, the role of Jana will be performed by Kimberly McCord.

Henry is a second-year Ryan Opera Center member. She has performed with the Aspen Music Festival, the Santa Fe Opera, the National Symphony Orchestra, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. She was a finalist in the 2015 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition and the 2018 Houston Grand Opera Eleanor McCollum Competition.

McCord is a member of the Lyric Opera Chorus and has performed frequently around Chicago, including seven roles with Haymarket Opera.

They join a cast that includes Nina Stemme, Pavel Černoch, Richard Trey Smagur, and Marianne Cornetti. Jakub Hrůša conducts Claus Guth’s production.
