
Luke Norvell Wins First Prize at SAS Performing Arts Company and Studios’ 2024 Vocal Competition

Tenor Luke Norvell took home first place, which was sponsored by Charles and Edith Upton. The second place winner was bass
Cumhur Grögün. This award was sponsored by the company’s patrons. Mezzo-soprano Sadie Cheslak was awarded The Luana DeVol Award for Dramatic Voices’ third place prize.
Emerging Artist awards were presented to soprano Alysha Nesbitt, mezzo-soprano Olivia Manna, and baritones Jason Duika and Sean Seung Cha.
The finals were held live on October 26, 2024 at Christ and St. Stephen’s Church in New York City. Over the past five years SAS has awarded close to $50, 000 in grants to emerging talent. Past winners have gone on to perform at New Orleans Opera, West Bay Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Detroit Opera, The Metropolitan Opera, Tulsa Opera, St. Petersburg Opera, San Francisco Opera, Paris Opera, Statsoper Berlin, Statsoper Stuttgart, and The English National Opera.
