Ludovic Tézier Receives Premio Piero Cappuccilli

The French baritone was recognized with the prestigious prize at the end of a performance of “La Traviata” at the Arena di Verona on August 26, 2023.
In a statement via social media, Tézier said, “More than an immense honor, a real emotion to share this with my dear friends on the occasion of this beautiful Traviata in Verona! More than often I think of Piero the Great. Thank you, dear Patrizia, not only for this much-appreciated prize but also for our meeting. You are a beautiful person. You have your father with you. Best wishes to this beautiful and important foundation all to the glory of the immense Piero Cappuccilli and the Italian singing school at its best! Long live Piero, long live Verdi, long live Italy!”
Tézier is the latest singer to receive the award following Plácido Domingo in 2022 and Luca Salsi in 2021.
Piero Cappuccilli was a great Italian operatic baritone who was best known for his interpretations of Verdi roles. He performed at the Metropolitan Opera, Wiener Staatsoper, Royal Opera, Teatro alla Scala, and Paris Opera, among others.
