Ludovic Tézier Calls Out Blogger’s Comments Regarding Cancelation

Ludovic Tézier did not mince words as he called out Slippedisc for its criticism of his cancelation of Wotan.

In his article, Slippedisc blogger Norman Lebrecht wrote, “A sick baritone is feeling much better” and added, “Ludovic Tézier, who ducked out of the Paris Rheingold on the 29th of this month, is jumping in at Munich that same night. That looks a bit odd.”

Tézier took to social media and responded, “Yes the French baryton feels better. It is not ODD ! It is natural thanks god! Still recovering though! It is really ODD to write « wisely » about opera and ignoring that a debut in Wotan without rehearsal is impossible. Change job: Write your gossips in the Mirror! A job for U.”

Tézier was originally scheduled to sing Wotan in Paris but due to influenza, he was unable to complete all the rehearsals required for this role debut. The Paris Opera’s General Manager added, “The baritone is immensely disappointed at having to give up this role. This dream was set to be a highlight of the season and a much-anticipated event for audiences.”

Tézier, who is still recovering has performed the role of Renato on several occasions and is well known for his Verdi interpretations.
