
Lucie Leguay Named Music Director of Sinfonietta de Lausanne
By Francisco SalazarThe Sinfonietta de Lausanne has announced that French conductor Lucie Leguay will serve as its new Music Director.
Leguay will succeed David Reiland and will begin her initial three-year term at the opening of the 2026-27 season.
In a statement, Leguay, who recently made debuts with the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, BBC Philharmonic, and Brno Philharmonic, said, “It is with great honor and joy that I have accepted the position of Musical Director to the Sinfonietta de Lausanne as of September 2026. I feel grateful to Switzerland and the city of Lausanne, and I want to express my deepest gratitude to the General Director Emmanuel Dayer, the Board Members Jean de Preux, and especially to the great musicians who have placed their trust in me.”
She added, “I immediately felt a special connection with this orchestra, a shared and profound desire to make music together in a very warm and human atmosphere. We share a sense of curiosity and wonder that I want to cherish for years to come.”
Jean de Preux, President of the Sinfonietta de Lausanne Foundation noted, “Lucie represents a generation of artists who move easily between tradition and innovation,” “Her open-mindedness, infectious energy, and musical sensitivity are a natural match for the Sinfonietta de Lausanne’s mission to break down barriers in the repertoire, bring audiences closer together, and foster discovery.”
Leguay has also previously worked with Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Orchestre National de France, Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre National de Lyon, WDR Sinfonieorchester, and the Konzerthausorchester Berlin.
