Lucas Macías Named Music Director of Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla

Lucas Macías has been named the New Music Director of the Real Orquesta Sinfónica in Seville, Spain.

The board of the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla (ROSS) announced the news in a meeting at the Teatro de la Maestranza.

Macías was recommended by the General Director of the ROSS, Jordi Tort and the conductor will sign an initial three-year contract with the orchestra with the option of extending for two more years thereafter.

Macías succeeds French conductor Marc Soustrot who left the orchestra last season.

Throughout his career, Macías has conducted numerous orchestras and since 2018 he has been principal conductor of the Oviedo Filarmonía and artistic director of the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada since 2020. This season he conducts the Orquesta Nacional de España, the Sinfónica de Tenerife, and will make his debut with the Orchestra Sinfónica di Milano.
