Los Angeles Master Chorale has announced that its GALA 2023 will honor composer Germaine Franco and LA Arts Recovery Fund.

The showcase, scheduled for April 14, 2023, at Walt Disney Concert Hall, will kick off at 7 p.m. There will be a 6 p.m. reception in Blue Ribbon Garden and dinner at 8 p.m.

Franco is the first female Artistic Honoree who has worked on such projects as “Coco” and “Encanto.” She won a 2023 Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media for “Encanto” and was also nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Score for the same film.

The LA Arts Recovery Fund is the Philanthropic Honoree for GALA 2023. The organization distributed $36.1 million to 90 art organizations for post-pandemic rebuilding, including the Los Angeles Master Chorale, which received a two-year grant of $1.5 million.

The Gala will feature music by Franco, including selections from “Coco” and “Encanto” as well as “Dora and the Lost City of Gold” and “Little.”
