Lorelei Ensemble to Present Virtual ‘Wondrous Love’ Holiday Concert

By Logan Martell

Available through January 1, 2021, the Lorelei Ensemble has released a virtual holiday concert titled “Wondrous Love,” which can be streamed from the music group’s official website.

Recorded in October at the Shalin Liu Performance Center in Rockport, MA, the program for the concert includes Medieval chant, Renaissance polyphony, Appalachian melodies, contemporary works from composers such as David Lang and Adam Jacob Simon. There are also new arrangements of traditional carols by company artists.

Founded in 2007 by Beth Willer, the Lorelei Ensemble has garnered praise for its bold approach to programming. Comprised of nine female vocalists, the ensemble has collaborated with companies such as the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra, and has toured at prominent venues internationally.

The organization is set to world premiere virtual launch of David Lang’s “love fail” in Spring of 2021. The work will feature choreography by Renée Jaworksi.
