Long Long Wins The Dallas Opera’s ‘Maria Callas Debut Artist Award’ As Company Unveils Season Honors

The Dallas Opera has announced that tenor Long Long is the recipient of the 2023-24 Maria Callas Debut Artist Award.

The tenor debuted in “Roméo et Juliette” this season.

“Words can’t express how excited and touched I am to receive this precious award,” said Long Long in an official press release. It’s a great honor for me and a significant milestone in my career. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the wonderful audiences in Dallas and to all my incredible colleagues on the ‘Romeo and Juliet’ team. I cherished every moment of our performances together. This has truly been one of the most memorable times in my opera life.”

The company also announced other award recipients including chorus member Dan Crowell, who was given the Director’s Award.

“It is a privilege to honor Dan for his longtime contribution to The Dallas Opera and the Chorus. Since first hired by Larry Kelly, Dan has literally sung for every General Director in the history of our companyan incredible legacy,” said General Director and CEO Ian Derrer in an official press release. 

Finally, four new members were elected to the Board of Directors including Roger Carroll, Milene Carvalho, Dr. Michael Lindsey, and Malcolm Winspear.
