London Symphony Orchestra Announces Cast Change for ‘Jenůfa’

The London Symphony has announced a cast change for its performances of “Jenůfa.”

The orchestra said, “Due to personal reasons, Asmik Grigorian has been forced to withdraw from the LSO’s performances of Janáček’s ‘Jenůfa’ on 11 and 14 January 2024. The role of Jenůfa will now be sung by Agneta Eichenholz. Existing ticket holders are in the process of being notified.”

Eichenholz is a Swedish soprano who has performed at the Royal Opera House, Verbier Festival, Theater Basel, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, and Festival d’Aix en Provence, among others. Her repertoire includes the works of Berg, Strauss, Verdi, Donizetti, Mozart, Gounod, and Britten.

She is set to join a cast that includes Katarina Karnéus, Aleš Briscein, Nicky Spence, and Jan Martiník. Sir. Simon Rattle conducts.

The concert will be filmed for broadcast by Marquee TV.
