Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre Competition for Young Directors

The Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre (LNOBT) has announced its competition for young directors.

The company is searching for a European director under 40 to enter the competition that will lead to directing a new version of Offenbach’s “The Tales of Hoffman” in the 2022-23 season. The winner will produce this opera with a budget of €300,00.

The winner will also work alongside maestro Sesto Quatrini, LNOBT’s Artistic Director of Opera and Music Director of “The Tales of Hoffman” as well as renowned singers and the theatre’s orchestra.

Quatrini said in a press release, “The theatre is waiting for the participants and will provide all professional help step by step in the implementation of the ideas.”

Competitors must submit their applications by March 31, 2022 which will include their personal artistic concept of “The Tales of Hoffman.” The jury will vote on the winner on May 15, 2022.
