The Teatro dell’Opera di Roma has announced its 2023-24 season.

The season opens with Botio’s “Mefistofele” with Simon Stone directing. Michele Mariotti conducts a cast that includes John Relyea, Maria Agresta, and Joshua Guerrero.

Michele Mariotti conducts Puccini’s “Tosca” with Anna Pirozzi, Vittorio Grigolo, and Erwin Schrott.

Performance Dates: Dec.9-14, 2023

Damiano Michieletto directs Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” with Michele Spotti conducting. The cast includes Juan Francisco Gatell, Emőke Baráth, Markus Werba, Olga Pudova, and John Relyea.

Performance Dates: Dec. 13-21, 2023

Ersan Mondtag directs a double bill of Puccini’s “Gianni Schicchi” and Ravel’s “L’heure espagnole.” Michele Mariotti conducts the production with a cast that includes Carlo Lepore and Karine Deshayes.

Performance Dates: Feb. 7-16, 2024

Barrie Kosky directs Strauss’ “Salome” with Marc Albrecht conducting. Sara Jakubiak sings the title role.

Lisette Oropesa sings the lead role in Bellini’s “La Sonnambula” alongside John Osborn, Roberto Tagliavini, and Monica Bacelli. Francesco Lanzillotta conducts the new production by Jean-Philippe Clarac and Olivier Deloeuil.

Janáček’s “Jenůfa” will be directed by Claus Guth and conducted by Juraj Valčuha. Karita Mattila stars.

Performance Dates: May 2-9, 2024

Gregory Kunde, Roberta Mantegna, and Igor Golovatenko star in Verdi’s “Otello” with Daniel Oren conducting. The production is by Allex Aguilera.

Deborah Warner directs Britten’s “Peter Grimes” with Michele Mariotti conducting. Allan Clayton sings the title role with Sophie Bevan and Simon Keenlyside.

Performance Dates: Oct. 11-19, 2024

Silvia Colasanti’s “L’ultimo viaggio di Sindbad” will make its world premiere with Luca Micheletti directing. Enrico Pagano conducts.

Performance Dates: Oct. 16-23, 2024

Pauline Viardot’s “Cenerentola” will be performed with the Young Artist Program “Fabbrica.” Lorenzo Amato conducts.
