Lisette Oropesa, Lawrence Brownlee, Maria José Siri, Hanna-Elisabeth Müller Headline Dresden Philharmonic’s 2023-24 Season

The Dresden Philharmonic has announced its 2023-24 season. For the purposes of this article, our focus will be vocal and operatic performances.

Robert Treviño leads a program of music by Janácek, Martinu, and Brahms with the Prager Philharmonischer Chor.

Performance Dates: Oct. 26, 2023

François Leleux leads a program featuring music by Mendelssohn and Lera Auerbach’s Symphony No. 6 “Vessels of Light” for violoncello, choir, and orchestra. The performance will feature the Prager Philharmonischer Chor.

Performance Dates: Nov. 11, 2023

The Philharmonischer Chor Dresden will present an Advent concert.

Performance Dates: Dec. 3, 2023

Lisette Oropesa, Anthony Clark Evans, and Lawrence Brownlee will headline “I Puritani.” Riccardo Frizza conducts.

Performance Dates: Dec. 10, 2023

Gunter Berger will conduct “Once the Lights Are Lit,” a concert of holiday music featuring the Philharmonischer Chor Dresden.

Performance Dates: Dec. 21-23, 2023

Marek Janowski conducts Dvorak’s “Stabat Mater.” Soloists include Hanna-Elisabeth Müller, Roxana Constantinescu, Christian Elsner, and Tareq Nazmi.

Performance Dates: Feb. 13, 2024

Sir Donald Runnicles will lead a concert featuring music by Debussy, Ravel, and Scriabin. The program will feature the Philharmonischer Chor Dresden and other choral ensembles.

Performance Dates: March 1 & 2, 2024

Andreas Reize leads a performance of Haydn’s “The Creation.” Soloists include Samantha Gaul, Kieran Carrel, and Dominik Wörner.

Performance Dates: March 17, 2024

Hans-Christoph Rademann leads an all-Bach program featuring such vocal soloists as Elisabeth Breuer, Daniel Johannsen, and Matthias Winckhler.

Performance Dates: March 31, 2024

Gunter Berger will lead the Dresdner Schulchöre in a concert.

Performance Dates: April 23, 2024

Daniel Oren will conduct Verdi’s “Requiem” with a cast starring Maria José Siri, Varduhi Abrahamya, Stefan Pop, and Michele Pertusi.

Performance Dates: May 5, 2024

Martin Lehmann conducts a program of music by Poulenc and Schubert featuring such vocal artists as Elsa Benoit, Anna Lucia Richter, Patrick Grahl, and Klaus Häger.

Performance Dates: May 25 & 26, 2024

The Philharmonischer Kinderchor Dresden will perform with the Ràscher Saxophon Quartet in music by Lera Auerbach, Bach, Purcell, and Lischka.

Performance Dates: June 16, 2024
