Lisette Oropesa, Bryn Terfel, Tomasz Konieczny, Anna Pirozzi & Federica Lombardi Headline Wiener Staatsoper Streaming Slate

The Wiener Staatsoper has announced the next slate of operas that it will be presenting on its streaming platform over the next week. All streams begin at 7 p.m. CET, except for the live stream of “Le Nozze di Figaro” on Feb. 1, 2021.

First up is a 2013 presentation of Wagner’s “Siegfried” featuring Christian Franz, Linda Watson, Tomasz Konieczny, Herwig Pecoraro, and Jochen Schmeckenbecher. Adam Fischer conducts the production by Sven-Eric Bechtolf.

Streaming date: Jan. 26, 2021

The cataclysmic ending of Wagner’s Ring cycle from 2013 is next in the line. “Götterdämmerung” spotlights Christian Franz, Linda Watson, Eric Halfvarson, and Jochen Schmeckenbecher. Adam Fischer conducts the production by Sven-Eric Bechtolf.

Streaming date: Jan. 27, 2021

The company will then stream Verdi’s “Nabucco” from Jan. 22, 2021, starring Plácido Domingo, Freddie De Tommaso, Riccardo Zanellato, and Anna Pirozzi. Marco Armiliato will conduct the production by Günter Krämer.

Streaming date: Jan. 28, 2021

Mozart’s “Die Entführung aus dem Serail” will follow. The opera stars Lisette Oropesa, Christian Nickel, Regula Mühlemann, Emanuela von Frankenberg, Stella Roberts, Daniel Behle, Michael Laurenz, Christian Natter, Ludwig Blochberger, and Goran Jurić. Antonello Manacorda conducts the production by Hans Neuenfels. The opera was filmed on Oct. 12, 2020.

Streaming date: Jan. 30, 2021

Puccini’s “Tosca” from 2019 is next in the line. The opera features Evgenia Muraveva, Joseph Calleja, Bryn Terfel, Ryan Speedo Green, and Alexandru Moisiuc. Marco Armiliato conducts the production by Margarethe Wallmann.

Streaming date: Jan. 31, 2021

Finally, the company will live stream a production of Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” with Andrè Schuen, Federica Lombardi, Louise Alder, Philippe Sly, and Virginie Verrez. Philippe Jordan will conduct the production by Jean-Pierre Ponnelle.

Streaming date: Feb. 1, 2021 at 3:30 p.m. CET. The opera will be also broadcast on ORF III on Feb. 21, 2021 at 8:15 p.m. CET.
