
Lise Davidsen & Michael Spyres Lead Metropolitan Opera’s New ‘Tristan und Isolde’

The new production will be directed by Yuval Sharon in his company-debut and will star Lise Davidsen in her long-anticipated company role debut as Isolde.
She will be joined by tenor Michael Spyres stars as Tristan, mezzo-soprano Ekaterina Gubanova as Brangäne, bass-baritone Tomasz Konieczny as Kurwenal, and bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green as King Marke.
The opera will be conducted by the Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer Music Director, Yannick Nézet‑Séguin.
In his Met debut, Sharon will approach Wagner’s masterpiece as a meditation on reality, hallucination, and transformation—imagining the opera as one transcendent episode within an endless cycle of death and rebirth.
“Tristan und Isolde” will open on March 9 and run through April 2, 2026. The performance on March 21, will be transmitted live to movie theaters around the globe as part of The Met: Live in HD series. The March 9 and 21 performances of “Tristan und Isolde” will be broadcast live on Metropolitan Opera Radio on the SiriusXM app.
