Lise Davidsen, Christian Gerhaher & Elizabeth Llewellyn Lead Wigmore Hall January 2021 Slate

The Wigmore Hall has announced January 2021 slate. All concerts will be streamed on the company’s website in HD. Additionally, all live-streamed concerts will be available on-demand for 30 days after the date of the concert.

If the epidemiological situation permits, concerts will allow up to 200 spectators. For the purposes of this article, we will focus only on vocal works.

Mezzo-soprano Ema Nikolovska will perform works by Britten, Dvorák, Kaprálová, Schubert and Slonimsky. Malcolm Martineau will be at the piano.

Performance date: Jan. 4, 2021

Soprano Jennifer France will perform works by Frey, Hildegard of Bingen, Jack Sheen, and Knussen. Jack Sheen will conduct the Britten Sinfonia.

Performance date: Jan. 13, 2021

Soprano Harriet Burns and tenor John Mark Ainsley will perform works by Charles Gounod. Malcolm Martineau will be at the piano. Henrietta Bredin is the director.

Performance date: Jan. 15, 2021

Soprano Hila Baggio will perform works by Korngold, Leonid Desyatnikov, and Schulhoff. Baggio will be accompanied by the Jerusalem Quartet.

Performance date: Jan. 16, 2021

Soprano Lise Davidsen will perform works by Berg, Grieg, Sibelius and Strauss. James Baillieu will be at the piano.

Performance date: Jan. 17, 2021

Tenor Mark Padmore will perform works by Britten and Schubert. Julius Drake will be at the piano.

Performance date: Jan. 18, 2021

Soprano Elizabeth Llewellyn will perform works by Finzi, Puccini, and Walton. Simon Lepper will be at the piano.

Performance date: Jan. 22, 2021

Baritone Christian Gerhaher will perform works by Debussy and Schumann. Gerold Huber will be at the piano.

Performance dates: Jan. 25 & Jan. 27, 2021

Tenors David Webb, Alessandro Fisher and Rupert Charlesworth; baritone Benedict Nelson; and bass Jonathan Lemalu will perform “Winterreise” by Franz Schubert. Iain Burnside will be at the piano.
