
Light Opera of New Jersey Announces ‘Stars of Tomorrow’ Vocal Competition’
By David SalazarLight Opera of New Jersey (LONJ) has announced its third annual “Stars of Tomorrow” vocal competition for New Jersey high school students.
The competition includes an online video qualifying round followed by live finals on April 19, 2026, at 2 p.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Basking Ridge, N.J.
The grand prize includes $1,000 and an appearance in a future LONJ MainStage production. Second prize is $500 and third prize is $250, as determined by the judges. An additional $100 Audience Favorite Award will be presented. All winners will also receive complimentary membership in the 2026 Light Opera Youth Ensemble.
Finalists will be announced in early April.
The judging panel includes LONJ Co-Founder Lauran Corson; Karen Driscoll, Head of Artistic Operations at Montclair State University; University of Hawaiʻi voice professor Maya Sypert; and arts educator and Youth in Arts Director Susan Speidel. The panel is led by LONJ Executive Director and conductor Jason Tramm.
