The Festival Verdi has announced its 2023 season.

Main Stage Productions 

The season opens with “I Lombardi alla prima Crociata” in a production by Pier Luigi Pizzi. Francesco Lanzillotta conducts a cast that includes Lidia Fridman as Giselda, Antonio Poli as Oronte, Michele Pertusi as Pagano, and Giovanni Sala as Arvino.

Performance Dates: Sept. 21-Oct. 15, 2023

Franco Vassallo leads Verdi’s “Falstaff“ with students from the Accademia Verdiana. Alessandro Palumbo conducts the production by Manuel Renga.

Performance Dates: Sept. 22-Oct. 14, 2023

Verdi’s “Il Trovatore” will return to the festival with Francesca Dotto, Riccardo Massi, Markus Werba, Clementine Margaine, and Marco Spotti. Davide Livermore directs the production with Francesco Ivan Ciampa conducting.

Performance Dates: Sept. 24-Oct. 12, 2023

Concert Performances 

Verdi’s “Nabucco” will be performed in concert with Vladimir Stoyanov in the title role. There will be a critical edition by Roger Parker. Giampaolo Bisanti conducts a cast that also includes Marco Ciaponi (Ismaele), Marko Mimica (Zaccaria), Marta Torbidoni (Abigaille), and Caterina Piva (Fenena).

Performance Dates: Sept 28 & Oct. 6, 2023

The season will also include a performance of Verdi’s Requiem. Oksana Lyniv conducts the piece with soloists Federica Lombardi, Yulia Matočkina, Freddie De Tommaso, and Michele Pertusi.

The season will also include “Fuoca di Gioa” with the Verdi Chorus from Parma.

Performance Date: Sept. 27, 2023

The Concerto Corale will be performed.

Performance Date: Oct.  1, 2023

Omer Meir Wellber will conduct the Gala Verdiano with soloists Eleonora Buratto, Clementine Margaine, Gregory Kunde, and Michele Pertusi.

Performance Date: Oct. 10, 2023

There will be a Concerto Sinfonico.

Performance Date: Oct. 13, 2023

The festival will present “El Trovador.”

There will be a Gala Verdiana with the Accademia Verdiana.
