Leyla Gencer Voice Competition Announces Return for 10th Edition

The 10th Leyla Gencer Voice Competition is set to take place on Sept. 22-27, 2024.

Co-organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, Borusan Sanat, and the Accademia Teatro alla Scala, the event will be making its return for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The competition is open for all singers between ages 18-32 with the application period running through May 3, 2024.

This year’s jury will be led by Stéphane Lissner and includes Viviana Barrios (Associate to the Artistic Director at Deutsche Oper Berlin), Alessandro Galoppini (Teatro alla Scala Casting Manager), David Gowland (Royal Opera House Jette Parker Young Artists Programme Artistic Director), Badri Maisuradze (Tenor, Tbilisi Opera and Ballet State Theatre Artistic Director) and Carlo Tenan (Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra Artistic Director and Principal Conductor).

Preliminary auditions will be held in London, Berlin, Milan, and Naples in May and then in Tbilisi and Istanbul in June. First prize comes with a €7,500 cash reward and possible performances and training with several major organizations.
