
Levy Skgapane Joins ‘Mitridate’ at the Teatro Alla Scala & Théâtre des Champs-Elysées
By Francisco SalazarLevy Sekgapane has joined the upcoming concerts of “Mitridate” at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and the Teatro alla Scala.
Sekgapane will sing the title role, replacing the originally announced Sergey Romanovsky.
The South African tenor is known for his work in the Bel Canto repertoire, singing works by Rossini, Donizetti, and Bellini. He has also performed several works by Mozart. He recently performed “Mitridate” with the Opéra Orchestre National Montpellier.
For the upcoming concerts, Sekgapane joins a cast that includes Jessica Pratt, Olga Bezsmertna, Rose Naggar-Tremblay, Maria Kokareva, Alasdair Kent, and Nina van Essen. Christophe Rousset conducts Les Talens Lyriques.
“Mitridate” will be performed in concert at the Teatro alla Scala on May 18 and at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées on May 25.
